The youth team of Colombia and the junior team of Venezuela triumphed at the South American Zone tournaments of the Men's IHF Trophy South and Central America, which took place from 23 to 27 April 2024 in Palmira, Colombia. The winners also secured their spots at the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy South and Central America.

In the semi-finals of the youth (U18) competition, home team Colombia took a comfortable win against Peru, 36:20, while Paraguay defeated Venezuela in a much closer fight, 26:24. In the final played on Saturday, Colombia defeated Paraguay 27:20, and Venezuela ranked third following a 38:28 win against Venezuela in a bronze-medal encounter.

In the junior (U20) event, Venezuela proved too strong for Peru in the semi-final, 33:18, while at the same stage, Colombia defeated Paraguay 30:28. The final match on Saturday was very tight, but ultimately Venezuela snatched a 33:32 win from the hosts Colombia. In the third-place game, Paraguay had the upper hand against Peru, 37:32.
