At the IHF Head Office in Basle the contract for the V Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships, which will be carried out in the Sultanate of Oman from 8 to 13 July, was signed on Tuesday 27 March. The agreement was signed by Said Bin Salim Al Busaidi, Chairman of Oman Handball Association (OHA), and IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa. The championship – supported by the Oman Ministry of Sports Affairs and the Oman Olympic Committee – will be held on the beaches of Al Musannah Sports City in the Oman capital Muscat. 24 teams – twelve in the men’s and women’s competition each – will participate.
After the signing ceremony Said Al Busaidi expressed his happiness of receiving the honour of hosting an international event in the Sultanate, hoping that the championship will help achieve the sporting, economic and touristic goals of the nation. Besides, Faiz Rashid Al-Muslhi, General Secretary of the OHA, and Abdullah Mazar Al-Raisa, OHA Treasurer, represented the hosting country at the meeting in Basle.
