For sportspeople around the world the Olympic Games are the highlight of all major events. London is calling this year – and handball will again be one of the most attractive and most watched team sports on the Olympic Programme. 24 teams in total–12 men’s and women’s team each – will be contending for medals under the 5 Olympic Rings. After a long qualification phase on continental level, as part of the IHF World Championships and latest in the Men’s Qualification Tournaments 18 of the 24 teams have meanwhile been established. The final stages before reaching London are the 3 Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournaments. The last six places for the Women’s Olympic Handball Tournament will be at stake over this weekend–the last teams to be known for the draw on 30 May in London. The way to London leads those 12 participating teams to Lyon, Guadalajara & Aalborg.I trust the tournaments will be a great success for the sport of handball.
