Thanks to a 37:34 victory in the final against Uruguay the Brazilian women’s juniors have defended their title at the Pan-American Championship, played in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Brazil remained the only unbeaten team in the whole tournament. Argentina took the bronze medal after a 30:21 victory over the surprising team from Canada in the bronze final.

All three medallists qualified for the Women’s Junior World Championship, taking place in the Czech Republic from 1 to 15 July.

The two semi-finals were completely different: Whilst Brazil defeated Canada 42:16, Uruguay surprisingly beat Argentina in a close duel 29:26.
In the preliminary round Brazil and Argentina won their respective groups with three victories. Host Dominican Republic missed the semi-finals after losing against Argentina and Canada and ranked fifth in the end, after winning their placement matches against Puerto Rico (29:28) and Chile (35:33).

Final ranking:
Gold: Brazil, Silver: Uruguay, Bronze: Argentina
