24 D licences awarded in Peru at IHF D Licence course

25 coaches took part in the IHF D Licence course in Lima, Peru, which took place between 5 and 11 November 2024 in the country’s capital.
The course was led by Prof. Dr. Pablo Juan Greco, IHF CCM Lecturer, and contained several intermediate to advanced handball and sport science topics, such as tactical and technical elements of handball, talent identification in handball, priciples of training and periodisation of strength training for youth and junior handball players, sport psychology and leadership skills for handball coaches or trends in modern handball.
As with all IHF coaching courses, the programme included both theoretical and practical components, with the participants being assessed to determine whether or not they are qualified to receive their certificate. At the end of the course, 24 of the 25 coaches enrolled into the course received their D Licence.
Each day started with a theoretical session, which saw different topics breached, such as the characteristics of handball, the different phases of the game, technico-tactical considerations, as well as individual marking and different systems of attack in defence.
The course also theoretical and practical sessions in the afternoons, with different demonstrations which underlined the theoretical aspects on the court.
Dr Greco noted that the enthusiasm displayed by the coursants was high, while the level of the discussions and training sessions was high and the coaches who were awarded the D licence have a good level of knowledge in handball.
24 of the 25 participants received their certificate at the end of the coaching course in Peru.
