Celebrating the Play True Day 2025, where "It All Starts With You"

Since 2014, in the month of April, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the anti-doping community worldwide have celebrated Play True Day, a day dedicated to clean sports, which raises awareness among athletes, fans and others about the importance of protecting and enabling clean sport.

Athletes, coaches, sports federations and major event organisers are asked to join the cause and answer the question on their social media channels.

This year’s theme is “It Starts with You”, which underlines the importance of each individual and the crucial role which everyone plays in maintaining a clean sport. The campaign is designed to include everyone that contributes to clean sport. Accordingly, this year's theme emphasizes that safeguarding the integrity of sport begins with each individual making the right choices.

The IHF has been in full support of Play True Day for several years and joins WADA in the challenge to help maintain solidarity within the sports community. The IHF invites the handball community and its stakeholders to join the Play True Day conversation by using the hashtags #PlayTrue, #PlaySafe and #PlayTrueDay.

About Play True Day

Play True Day has been marked every April since 2014. The initiative was born at a WADA-hosted Education Conference in 2013, attended by 17 South American countries. What began as an idea between those nations has yielded growth in the past few years, reaching millions around the globe thanks to the participation of individuals and organisations engaged in the fight for clean sport.

In 2024, on its 10th anniversary, over 100 countries and 50 organizations participated, creating a global wave of support for clean sport generating nearly 200 million impressions and 260,000 engagements worldwide on social media.
