IHF D Licence course in the USA sees 17 coaches awarded D Licences

17 coaches took part in the IHF D Licence course in San Francisco, the United States of America, which took place between 24 and 28 March, in the Centerville Middle School facilities. This was the first-ever licence cource organised by the IHF in the USA.
The course was led by Alireza Habibi, IHF CCM Lecturer, and contained several intermediate to advanced handball and sport science topics, such as tactical and technical elements of handball, talent identification in handball, priciples of training and periodisation of strength training for youth and junior handball players, sport psychology and leadership skills for handball coaches or trends in modern handball.
Participants included coaches from various levels of U.S. national teams, club teams, and physical education teachers.
The first day, 24 March, saw a brief introduction in the course being delivered by the IHF CCM Lecturer, followed by a presentation of the handball game and the preparation steps in handball. Then, a practical part was introduced, with warm ups, small games, mini handball basis and some three-on-three games.
Then, over the next days, basic offensive and defensive techniques were delivered - with a focus on holding, positioning and movement, catching, passing and dribbling a ball, as well as more oriented situations in defence, like the 5-1 or 3-3 defensive systems.
At the end of the course, a final written exam was undergone by the participants, with all 17 coaches receiving their D Licence.
