IHF D Licence courses in Thailand and Venezuela see 72 licences awarded

Two IHF D Licence courses took place in the first months of 2025, with all 25 participants enrolled in the course in Caracas, Venezuela, obtaining their licence, while all 47 participants enrolled in the course in the Suphamburi Province in Thailand passing their exam.

As with all IHF coaching courses, the programme included both theoretical and practical components, with the participants being assessed to determine whether or not they are qualified to receive their certificate.

The first course, which took place in Caracas, Venezuela, between 8 and 12 February, was led by IHF CCM Lecturer, Manel Mañas Cortes, and had 25 participants. Throughout the five days, the course  contained several intermediate to advanced handball and sport science topics, with three of the five days of the course starting with practical lessons of basic handball principles and concepts. The theoretical part saw different topics breached, such as basic principles of handball, identifying talent and different tactical concepts.

The participants were divided into four groups, and each group was composed of elementary school teachers, secondary school physical education teachers, former players and experienced coaches, seeking a balance between the experience of all participants.

In the end, all the 25 participants enrolled in the course received their IHF D Licence.

The course in Thailand took place between 6 and 10 February, and was led by IHF CCM Lecturer, Dr. Nabeel Taha Al Shehab. During the course, the participants were also divided in groups and asked to perform a daily practical task, as well as participating in theoretical lessons.

Moreover, the participants were able to do two viewing sessions of the 2025 IHF Men’s World Championship. The course was held simultaneously with the Southeast Asian Indoor and Beach Handball Championships. Participants were able to watch live matches from this competition, having the chance to experience firsthand live handball.

In the end, all the 47 participants enrolled in the course received their IHF D Licence.
