Uzbekistan seal gold at both the Junior and Youth 2025 Men's IHF Trophy Men’s Asia

Uzbekistan were crowned champions in both the junior's and the youth’s competitions at the 2025 Men's IHF Trophy Asia, which took place between 3 and 7 January in Lucknow, India, with four teams taking part in each competition.
Both competitions had a round-robin format for the preliminary round, with the four sides then meeting in the semi-finals according to their placements in the first three matches, with the final deciding the winner.
In the junior (Under-20) competition, Uzbekistan swept their opponents in the preliminary round, taking a 46:36 win against hosts India, a 37:12 win against Bangladesh and a 31:30 win against Kazakhstan, in the most balanced match of this phase of the competition.
Kazakhstan came second, after their 40:32 win against India and 43:23 win over Bangladesh, with the hosts finishing on the third place, due to their 48:38 win over Bangladesh.
Kazakhstan doubled down against India in the semi-final, leading from start to finish. After they had a five-goal lead at the break, 17:12, they cruised to a 39:31 win, ensuring a medal, as they would meet Uzbekistan in the final, which took a 34:20 win against Bangladesh.
There was no question about the winner in this competition, as Kazakhstan could simply not replicate the good performance against Uzbekistan in the preliminary round, scoring only six goals in the first half.
Eventually, Uzbekistan cruised to a 38:17 win, ensuring the trophy, as Kazakhstan had to settle for the silver medal. In the bronze medal match, India took a 40:24 win, securing the last place on the podium.
In the youth (Under-18) competition, Uzbekistan also swept their opponents in the preliminary round, starting with a 47:34 win against India and following up with a 43:34 win over Kazakhstan and a 41:23 win over Bangladesh.
Hosts India finished second, taking a 35:29 win over Bangladesh and a 36:35 win over Kazakhstan, setting up their second match in two days against Kazakhstan, while Uzbekistan had to play Bangladesh for a place in the final.
Uzbekistan clinched a clear 42:22 win, while India delivered a better performance against Kazakhstan, fueled by a strong 17:9 lead at the break, which translated in the end into a 31:27 win.
There was no question about the winner of the competition, as Uzbekistan delivered a pitch perfect performance, taking a 47:23 win against India, after they scored more goals in the first half, 25, than their opponents in the entire match.
In the bronze medal match, Kazakhstan mounted a spirited comeback after being down 15:14 at the break to clinch a 33:29 win against Bangladesh.
